$$$...Money Matters

This month all of Ms. Avila’s classes are learning the basics of personal finance in the United States.  We learned the basics such as spending, debt, living within your means, savings, having a budget, and credit cards.  The following is a list of information and links to help you continue learning about money so that you can make educated choices that will help your financial future:
How to make a budget work for you:
¨  1st Think about everything you spend money on for one month, even the little things like a can of soda or a pack of gum.  Make a list.
¨  2nd Think about how much money you make in a month.  Make a list.
¨  3rd Use the two lists to create a Budget Spreadsheet.
¨  4th The 80-10-10 rule:  Only use 80% of the money you make, 10% goes into savings, 10% goes into giving back .
¨  5th After you have a budget, give yourself a CASH ALLOWANCE.  You can only use that cash amount per month. Once is gone, you cannot spend more!!!
¨  6th Plan for Long-Term Goals!!
¨  7th DON’T QUIT!!!

ESL 5 Lit.: 1950’s & 60’s Dance Moves

 
Project Goal: You will become a dance teacher
1.You will be assigned one of 3 dances:
•The Twist
• The Waltz
• Swing
2. You will be assigned a partner
3. You will need to write a report about your dance and answer the following questions in complete sentences:
  • Give a brief history of how the dance originated.
  • What songs are popular to use when doing this dance?
  • Can you do this dance alone? Or Do you need a partner?
  • Can this dance be done in a group?
  • What parts of the body are used the most in your dance?
  • How do you move each part of the body?  Which directions do you move?
  • What are the basic steps of the dance?  What do you do first, second, etc.?
4. Ms. Avila will provide you with internet links to help you find the answers.
5. You will learn the dance and teach the dance to the class.

HOW YOU WILL BE GRADED:
  • Your written report of the dance.
  • Your explanation and teaching of the dance.
  • Your presentation of the dance.
